Coding Clinic
February 27

Faculty will focus on proactive coding strategies. Discuss how codes drive revenue enhancement and explore what can be done to proactively use coding in conjunction with medical policy and reimbursement policies to find suspect claims and close loopholes. In addition, examine some key 2020 coding changes and ways these changes may drive inappropriate billing and what red flags you could expect to see in your data.

Fraud Schemes in Cosmetic & Wellness Procedures
March 19

Explore several common schemes in wellness testing/procedures and cosmetic surgery. Learn how providers use creative billing to mask procedures and how some use a cookie-cutter approach testing and prescribing to patients under the umbrella of “wellness” medicine. The faculty will review red flags, scheme details, and investigative strategies for these schemes. In addition, hear the details of a case study involving a non-par ambulatory surgery center routinely masking procedures, unbundling services, and waiving co-pays or deductibles. Understand the data analysis, red flags, and investigative strategies used to uncover the schemes being perpetrated and how a related surgical group was identified based on the initial investigation.
